GeForce Now Starts Rolling out Chrome Support
Nvidia’s release notes for version 2.0.27 show that they are now rolling out beta support for Chrome browsers on Windows and MacOS. They state that other platforms may work but are not currently supported. Once you’re on the right version all you need to do is navigate to https://play.geforcenow.com on Chrome using either Windows, or MacOS and it should start working.
Geforce Now has been adding more platforms over the last year since they launched. They support ChromeOS and began supporting safari on iOS in November of last year. GeForce Now has a different business model to most other cloud streaming services in that you buy the game you want to stream and you retain access to the games you buy even outside of streaming them. The cloud streaming wars are certainly heating up with Amazon recently throwing their hat in the ring with Luna, their own take on cloud streaming. There’s yet to be a true standout cloud gaming platform, and everyone is experimenting with pricing models, and subscription models, and see what sticks. It will be interesting to see if the new Chrome browser support helps GeForce Now pick up any meaningful marketshare in this increasingly competitive space.
